On a deployment.
On a deployment the network deployment engineer is the person who takes a design and makes it real. They rack and cable core and distribution switches, apply baseline configs, bring up links, validate against the design and hand over a documented, working network. On hyperscale and enterprise sites they work inside strict change windows with a method of procedure that has to be followed line by line.
The role sits between the design authority and the physical install teams. The best ones read a rack elevation, a port map and a cutover plan the night before and turn up with questions rather than surprises.
What good looks like.
- Preparation
- Turns up with the port map annotated and the config pre-staged. Every link is tested, labelled and recorded before the window closes.
- Judgment
- Knows when a discrepancy is a stop and when it is a note. Escalates early, in writing, with a proposed fix.
- Handover
- Leaves a handover the ops team can use without a phone call: as-builts, config backups, test results.

Questions about this role.
How quickly can you shortlist a network deployment engineer?
Shortlists typically arrive within two working days of a complete brief. You get two to five masked scorecards, each with a note from the recruiter. If the site needs clearance or a rare certification, the recruiter will say so on the day the brief arrives.
Contract or permanent?
Both. We place network deployment engineers on contract and permanent terms. On contract work, Riviot can act as employer of record or agent of record. The contract versus permanent tool shows where the crossover sits for your market.
What if the site needs a certification not listed here?
Put it in the brief. The recruiter shortlists against it, and it shows on each scorecard as declared until a reviewer has checked the document.
Do engineers travel between markets?
Many do. Engineers in the network travel between the six launch markets. Travel and lodging terms are agreed at brief stage. Say in the brief if you need someone local.
